As a proud member of GALA, the most important international associations in the Language industry, Wagner International recently took part of its annual event “The Language of Business, the Business of Language”, an interesting ocassion where we were able to build new relationships and strengthen our expertise in the field.

Along with other members of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), WI attended the many conferences and sessions where all participants could analyze and discuss the main trends of our industry and some implications of this profession.

For example, one forum regarding Localization raised a question among the presents about its limits when transforming the content for cultural adaptation purposes. How to improve your services is a topic that never gets old, since the sector is constantly growing and transforming itself, in the same way languages do.

GALA’s 10th annual Conference, held in Boston from March 13th to March 16th, was a formidable oportunity to keep up to date with the current tendencies and know the future prospects in subjects such as translation, localization, interpreting, voice-over, media, IT and others related.

In this sense, technology is a key factor which will continue developing for more specialized linguistic uses. For instance, machine translations are engines that speed up and help detect human errors. Special sofwares are indeed a useful tool for results with a high level of precision. Video-localization, the technique of synchronizing subtitles with the image of a video for efficient translation work, is also an element that can take advantage of new technological developments.

GALA's conferences are advanced educational and networking events where translation and localization industry leaders collectively discuss best practices, common challenges, emerging trends, and industry technologies. Over 500 attendees from more than 40 countries (including language service providers, managers of global content, language technology companies, corporate buyers and localization managers, academics and researchers) shared research, gather feedback, and forge alliances.

With top executives comprising more than 60% of the audience, the focus was high-level, strategic, and growth-oriented in an open atmosphere and a spirit of sharing where peer-to-peer learning abounds. Additionally and in partnership with InterpretAmerica, the 2018 event produced the fifth installment of think! Interpreting, a unique insight into the interpreting market.

GALA membership is restricted to companies that meet high quality standards and fulfill international norms. The association seeks to drive progress for the industry as a whole, helping businesses to develop strategies and increase their networks.

Wagner International, always seeking perfectioning to provide its customers with the most innovative integral service, will continue to attend all coming GALA events. Munich will host the conference, see you there!
