The dubbing is the filmmaking process where the original audio of an audiovisual product is substituted for the sounding translation of the project. This process is done with the goal of translating the sound of an audiovisual product into a different language.
The dubbing begins with the creation of sound movies. It started when the filmmaking industry in the US filmed movies with conversations and music.
The possibility to show these films in movie theaters all around the world started to grow up and, in a few years, it became into a reality.
The dubbing process is usually done by dubbing actors. People who use their voices to record the translations of the original audio into a new language, trying to transmit not just the words the original actor said in the film but also the feelings and the tone of the voices in the original product.
A dubbing actor must:
- Need to be an actor. A lot of time, people think that a dubbing actor is not a real actor because he is not at the screen. But to be able to understand and show the feelings of the original actor and having the same tone of voice but in a different languagehas almost the same level of hardness that playing the role in front of the camera.
- Have to rehearse for his/her character as if he is the original actor.
- Have to develop an incredible auditive timing to sync his voice with the original actor lips movements.
- Need to be able to talk with different tones of voice because he or she has to play different roles for different dubbing projects.
How is the dubbing process done?

The dubbing is done in a recording studio in front of a screen, where is projected chronologically films or series fragments in the original version (with the original audio), so the actor can listen and watch how the original audio is and imitate it.
The dubbing process has different stages:
- The client contacts Wagner Consulting International for an outstanding dubbing project. We discuss the terms & conditions of the contract.
- Wagner Consulting International contact its team, deliver the product to all the responsible people to make the dubbing project and specifies to them their roles inside the project. (Technicians, engineers, translators, actors, producers)
- The script is translated into the new language adapting words that may be different in the new language but with the same meaning. The main goal is to have a script that people in the new language can understand but also feel in the same level than in the original language.
- The casting director choose the right actors for each role in the film. This is the most important part of the process. Our casting director always choose the right actor for each role, usually with a tone of voice almost equal to the original film.
- After all actors are chosen. The dialogues recording starts. The actors in the studio record their voices while they watch the original film, trying to sync their voices with the lips movements of the original actor.
- The last step is the postproduction. Here all the voices are mixed with the sound of the film. In case of being necessary are also added other elements such as wind sounds, laughs, applauses, etc.
