Today we are celebrating an important day for the America’s, Columbus Day.

In a day like this in 1492 Christopher Columbus arrived for the first time to a territory that he believed was India. This lucky mistake not only gave him the recognition of a great discovery, it also started a great tradition of cultural and transatlantic exchange between Europe and North, Central and South America, a tradition of communicating with different cultures that still prevails over 500 years.

Even though the first ships arrived at the Caribbean, this excitement about the “new land” expanded so fast that soon many European countries were part of this mass expansion through the different territories. Nowadays we live in a globalized world with access to translation and interpreting services that allow us to communicate in an easy, speedy and accurate way but imagine how easy it would have been for Columbus if he had access to Wagner’s services!

The most important landing in history of human kind is celebrated on October 12th as "Día de la Raza" ("Day of the Race") in many countries in Latin America, as "Día de la Hispanidad" in Spain and as Giornata Nazionale di Cristoforo Colombo or Festa Nazionale di Cristoforo Colombo in Italy.

Today we are commemorating all the great explores, families, merchants, kids, women, etc that over the years came to America and gave this country its extraordinary and wide identity.

Happy Columbus Day to everyone!
